Rad Reading – October

For this month, I read Bystander by  James Preller.  This story is about a boy named Eric that is in seventh grade who needs new friends, until some “Cool kids” appear and try to mess with him, Eric ends up in the middle of bad things, and he decides that he doesn’t want to be “friends” with them anymore. But Eric doesn’t know what to expect as it is his fear of trying to not get beaten up by them.

I enjoyed this book, as the characters really demonstrated how hard life can get at an early age. I can relate how Eric didn’t know what to do in serious situations whether to stay or run away .  Throughout the story he starts to show his true colors which led me to really like the book overall, normally it takes me at least 2 days to like a book but in the first 3 pages it was already really interesting!

My favorite character is Eric. Eric is my favorite character because he is mature and wise and thinks before he does things and when he feel pity for other he really does try to change or like help them put when they are in need. Eric changed from being a scaredy cat to standing up to others because he had enough of the bullying from the people who targeted him and the new kids.

My favorite quote from the book is on page 87 , “In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” This means that the comments from your enemies may hurt, however the hurt from friends not standing by and supporting you is forever remembered. The quote made me realize the value of friendship and that you should always stand up for not only yourself but for other associates.

My Perfect Day

It would be a dream to have a perfect day and it would go like this. In the morning, I would like to have a delicious wake up drink an it would be Starbucks because it energizes my body and mind making me wake up more. For my little snack to go with the Starbucks drink would be a cake pop which in my opinion  is cookies and cream is the best flavor of them all, every single bite I take I savor each time. For the evening , I’d like to eat some avocado bread, I’ve eaten avocado bread since I was 6 years old with a sunny side egg on top of my avocado bread. I would always have a glass of orange juice  mmhmm! Im already craving it just thinking about it! For my dinner I LOVE the shrimp alfredo pasta, the shrimp alrfredo is AWESOME   I have so many reasons of why shrimp alredo is really good. With all that in mind I would watch a movie with my family!! What would be your perfect day?

My Permanent Age

If I could permanently be the same age forever I would want to be twelve years old. My first reason, is because 12 is a good age , some teenagers would want to turn back time as they didn’t  make most of their life as little kids. My second reason, is because you could play around in the playground and joke around with your friends and even hang out with them at malls. My third and final  reason as to why I would want to be 12 is because of the perceived carefree nature of that age, where theres less pressure from school, social expectations, and future responsibility, allowing for more play, simpler relationships, and a closer bond with their parents, often looking back on those years with nostalgia despite the challenges they may have faced then.

Living In A Movie

If I could be in a fictional universe, it would be Naruto. My first reason is because I would like to try out the ramen that they eat, they make it look really good that they go to the  restaurant daily. I like how they dress and even their headbands can be any color I want!  My second reason is because they train you to be a ninja and protect yourself from people who mean harm. My third reason is because they have beautiful towns and cultures all around the world and I would love to see them, their hot springs also seem really comfy and fun to be in. This takes place in Japan in Tokyo near many villages. Theres a lot of food for when it comes to feasts.  This is definitely the world I would want to live in! Where would you  live?

Crocheting

I love crocheting when it comes to making plushies or sweaters and even scarfs! For me, it makes me feel at ease. It’s better when I am outside because the fresh breeze of air passes through me as if it were a super fast car. The rhythmic click of a crochet hook against yarn, a quiet melody accompanying the steady progression  of loops and stitches, A language that I understand to heart, I feel like crocheting is more than just a craft, its a meditative practice and a creative outlet and the power of making something beautiful from seemingly simple threads. Crocheting has become an important puzzle in my life, as I continue to practice I will always be  reminded that the most beautiful creations that humans have ever made emerge from the simplest beginnings much like the journey of life itself.

Rad Reading – September

In September, I read the book Lifeboat 12  by Susan Hood. The story is about a 13 year old boy named Ken who survives a torpedo attack on a luxury ocean liner during World War II and must survive in a lifeboat with limited supplies.  Ken gets a huge welcome back home, assuring him that he is loved and cherished by his father, stepmother, and 3- year old sister.

I recommend reading this book because it is based on a tru story of a 13 year old boy who survived the World War II. The book includes historical information and back-matter that helps readers understand what life was like during the World War II. The style of writing is lyrical and poetry like.

My favorite character was Auntie Mary. Auntie Mary is my favorite character because she likes to talk about life in general. One of her character traits are helpful, for example this quote, “ Life on a lifeboat isn’t much of a life. It is like an end of game in chess, a game with a few pieces. The elements  couldn’t be more simple, nor the stakes higher.” This means, you must make adjustments if you want to survive, much becomes expendable. You just get happiness where you can.

My favorite quote from Lifeboat 12 is, “ I tuck my book under my arm. No wonder the Nazis don’t  want people to have them. For them, books are weapons. For me stories are lifesavers.”  I like this quote because Ken is already mature and makes wise decisions, he has self awareness and that what I look for in a book when it comes to serious situations!

My Favorite Meal

The thought of my favorite meal makes my mouth water. Enchiladas are so delicious that you feel like you could eat them non-stop after just eating one. The most best thing of the whole food meal is how my mom makes the sauce and how she puts sour cream on the Enchiladas, the food is breath taking once you see the finishing touches. I mainly love making them with her, I like how I put  condiments on the sauce when you have to blend it. I put a bit of salt mixed with seasoning and some cut up onions. The best second  part of my meal is the onions. I LOVE onions. I cut some up and let it sit in lemon juice and when Im done I put it on the Enchiladas. A good drink with Enchiladas would be either horchata or strawberry milk. I recommend strawberry milk because imo it looks really good and tastes good, its  honestly awesome.

My Dream House

If I could design my own house it would be a normal sized house, Im not into having such luxurious houses like celebrity’s do or rich people do as well. I would design my house not too big and not too small, However, if my family decides to live with me then I need a big house not exactly like a mansion but just a family sized house for 5 members. I want a comfy bed like a king sized one so that I could roll around all I want. I want my house to be in Mexico. Right next to my grandparents, I wish to see them every morning, every evening, and every night. I want everyone to be healthy too, with the most delicious fruits ever. I even want a pool for when it gets hot outside or in the inside. Having to see my family is a blessing for me. I want to buy decorations for the house to put up for my grandma and my mom they love to decorate the house with many things. I also want a hamster that’s named chubsters, and a golden retriever. Needless to say that is my dream home.

Where I Would Travel To

If I could travel anywhere on planet earth it would be Japan. I’d travel to Japan because I think the view is nice, they grow out sakura trees that blossom between late march and early April. Japan has such fancy food, the way they carefully and gently put the food just so that the costumers can enjoy their food inside the restaurant or even outside! I’ve been meaning to try out the bed laying, they look so comfy and nice, and I feel like the moment I lay down on the bed I would immediately sleep on it.

All About Me

Hi, my name is Claudia. Welcome to my blog. Allow me to introduce myself. To start off, my favorite color is mint green, my birthday is on December, so I will turn 13 this year, I am excited for Friday because my mom will pick me up since it will be minimum day, she normally doesn’t have time during the day but this time, However, she will! My friends are really nice, I love them a lot they are funny and silly at most times and when the situation is serious we tend to laugh about it. One of my hobbies is looking at nature, I love how the breeze smells nice when it’s a bit windy, and the trees move along with each other making it seem like they’re  dancing, I mostly enjoy watching flowers bloom in the summer each year, the flower I enjoy the most is  a yellow orchid!
